Silent Hills Possibly Cancelled

The following is not 100% confirmed and the details are subject to change, expect updates.

Update: Actor Norman Reedus who was involved in the project has confirmed Silent Hills will not be happening. Source.

Update update: Konami confirms Silent Hills will not be going ahead, not with them anyway. Here’s to hoping another publisher seizes the opportunity.

Upcoming Playstation 4 title Silent Hills may be cancelled, according to a tweet posted by photojournalist Matt Hackney.

Film director Guillermo del Toro apparently made the comment about the project at a panel at the San Francisco International Film Festival yesterday, del Toro was collaborating on the game with legendary developer and creator of the Metal Gear Solid series, Hideo Kojima.

Kojima has recently been in gaming news headlines after his name was taken off several other upcoming Konami projects including Silent Hills and Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. No word from Kojima yet as to whether he has officially severed ties with Konami.

A ‘interactive teaser’ for Silent Hills, P.T. (Playable Teaser) which was released last year, is also reportedly being removed from the Playstation Store in just a few days.

Reddit user aintnoother made a comment regarding the tweet, although nothing has been officially confirmed.

“It was said at del Toro’s panel at the San Francisco International Film Festival last night, and this was retweeted/confirmed by his assistant. With the recent pull from Kojima Productions and P.T.’s removal from the PS store, it is very likely that the project is no longer going to happen.” –aintnoother

Konami have yet to issue an official statement concerning the employment of Kojima or the fate of Silent Hills, although we expect all of these incidents may be related.
