POINTNCLICK’s Top Video Game Picks for This Week

WAHOO!

You know what’s boring? News. Especially news about games no one cares for! Never fear, POINTCLICK is here to curate the videogames WE’RE interested in, and the ones YOU might want to play this week. Fortunately, the POINTNCLICK crew has a delectable, buttery spread of opinions that will (hopefully) ensure a nice range of diverse and interesting games. Some weeks individuals may not feature, some weeks this article might not exist, but if you’re reading this now I’d say this probably happened.

DT’s Picks

Mario Tennis Aces:

Release Date: 22nd of June

It’s upsetting to me that there are so few good tennis games floating around these days, but I’m hopeful Mario Tennis Aces will scratch that desperate itch of mine. I tried out the demo during the beta weekend, and I was not expecting it to be as intense as it was. Don’t get me wrong, intensity is a good thing! The phrase: ‘Tennis fighting game’ has been thrown around a lot recently, but I think it’s a pretty accurate statement for what Mario Tennis Aces is shaping up to be. I’m mostly looking forward to the new ‘story mode’, and developing character-specific strategies in the multiplayer.

This trailer with Rafael Nadal is exceptional.

 The Sims 4: Seasons

Release Date: 24th of June

Its been ages since I’ve played The Sims 4, and quite honestly it shocks me that its taken this long for an expansion which includes the seasons. There’s something particularly tantalising about having to add ‘shovelling snow’ into the daily routine, and celebrating christmas with the children I’m about to abandon in a doorless high-rise. Also also! You can ‘get it on’ in a pile of Autumn leaves!!

Darkest Dungeon: The Color of Madness

Release date: 19th of June

I want to play more Darkest Dungeon, I really do. I am vaguely interested in this DLC; the colour pallet looks a lot nicer than the grim red, black and brown setting of the base game, and the endless wave seems like a neat addition – being able to play this at any level might allow me to hone my skills. This isn’t a priority purchase for me, but down the road I might pick it up if it proves itself!

Lauren’s Picks

Release date: 22nd of June

Oh my God, if there’s anything I need right now, it’s another charming Mario title. ESPECIALLY a tennis title. And its got a story mode too! I’ve been looking forward to this one since it was announced all that time ago. I didn’t realise it was out so soon! Unfortunately, I didn’t get time to try out the beta a little while ago, but the footage and images I saw from the beta itself really hyped me for a tennis adventure.
