POINTNCLICK’S Top Video Game Picks for This Week

July 9 – July 15 Edition

You know what’s boring? News. Especially news about games no one cares for! Never fear, POINTCLICK is here to curate the videogames WE’RE interested in, and the ones YOU might want to play this week. Fortunately, the POINTNCLICK crew has a delectable, buttery spread of opinions that will (hopefully) ensure a nice range of diverse and interesting games. Some weeks individuals may not feature, some weeks this article might not exist, but if you’re reading this now I’d say this probably happened.

David’s Picks

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

Release Date: 13th of July

I’ve never played a Captain Toad game, but hey, I’m always willing to give a Nintendo 1st-Party game a go on the Switch! The art-style and 3D world perspective is already enough to have me sold. I get that a lot of people are disappointed its just a remake, but only 5 people actually bought a WiiU, so I never gave it a go. That being said, I already have so many games on the backlog at the moment.

Earthfall

Release Date: 13th of July

Its been on Steam Early Access for a while, but after its Xbox One reveal at E3 I’ve developed somewhat of a slight interest in seeing how this game fairs. I love anything coop, but it’s a hard task trying to make a wave-based shooter unique and balanced enough to survive beyond the initial week of release. The chances are this game bungles its execution in some way or another, but there is definitely a gap in this genre, so here’s hoping Earthfall fills that space.

Josh’s Picks

Octopath Traveller

Release Date: 13th of July

I have been hooked on Octopath Traveller since the first demo came out months ago. I have unabashedly put around 15 hours into the demos alone and that will be a mere drop in the ocean in comparison to how much I plan on putting in to the full game. I have a plan as to what order I’m going to collect my characters and how I’m going to progress through the story.

If no one hears from me for a few weeks, don’t panic.

Cotter’s Picks

Octopath Traveller

Release Date: 13th of July

Unlike Josh, I haven’t touched either of Octopath Traveller’s demos but absolutely everything about this game makes it seem as if it were made specifically for me. Plus it is a Square RPG, and that’s more than enough reason for me to check it out.

Lauren’s Picks

Captian Toad: Treasure Tracker

Release Date: 13th of July

I played Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker on the Wii U all those years back and finished it within the day. Now, this isn’t a bad thing by any stretch, but I’m hoping the bit of extra content that comes with this Switch release will help with some extra gameplay. Don’t get me wrong, the gameplay all those years back was super fun, and I enjoyed every minute of it, but I’d like a bit more, please.

Octopath Traveller

Release Date: 13th of July

Now, I am excited about Octopath Traveller… I think. I’ve put the littlest time into the demo on Switch, and I’m all about that setting and the gameplay, but I’m worried about not giving the demo my full attention.
