Managing Director calls Horizon: Zero Dawn a mix between Assassin’s Creed and Skyrim

The post-post-apocalyptic world set out in announcement of Horizon: Zero Dawn had everyone on the edge of their seats. Since then, not much has come out about the mysterious land set in the time after the time after the apocalypse. But co-founder and managing directer of Guerrilla Games (Horizon’s developers) sat down with GamesRadar and explained some things.

Guerrilla Games are the minds behind the infamous PlayStation exclusive, KILLZONE (see what I did there?! HA! Jokes!) and have been apparently working on HORIZON: ZERO DAWN since the end of KILLZONE 3‘s development, 5 years ago. It’s was a pretty big risk for Guerrilla Games, since they have been solely working on first-person shooters since at least 2004.

But HORIZON: ZERO DAWN definitely packs a lot of promise. Herman Hulst, co-founder and managing directer of the Guerrilla Games said “I guess you’re wondering where we are on the spectrum, of, on the one side more action-oriented games like Assassin’s Creed, and on the other hand you have your Elder Scrolls and these kinds of series.” I suppose Hulst felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out “Yes!” Because he continued on to say “I think we’re in-between. We have elements in both directions, and that probably puts us somewhere in between”

HORIZON: ZERO DAWN will be a PlayStation 4 exlusive title coming to us sometime in 2016. Hopefully sooner, rather than later.

944596_3337961624422_1818549655_nSilly time-setting descriptors aside (post-post-apocalypse?! What the hell even is that?!) I cannot wait for this game. After THE LAST GUARDIAN it easily won my personal Game of the Show from E3 this year and as a big fan of both older Assassin’s Creed titles (where mah AC2 boiis at?) and literally anything that has dragons in it. 2016 is going to be a really great year for games.
