Hey Everyone! Get in here!
Hearthstone, Blizzard’s online card-game is changing! Though, some don’t think it’s for the better. A brand new game mode is heading our way in an upcoming patch along with brand spankin’ new Heroes seemingly from the opposite factions to the Heroes already out now. Here’s what you need to know…
Mid-June (so close!) is the time where Blizzard will introduce their newest Hearthstone patch, which shall include their new game mode: Tavern Brawl! Tavern Brawl is a weekly (but only for a limited time), randomised game mode where you brawl head-to-head with other players, using particular and flashy rules to defeat each other in a fiery explosion of magic-y goodness.
Blizzard are saying these unique and exciting rules could feature:
“… preset decks, while another week could have you crafting a brand new Tavern Brawl deck following specific guidelines, while others might offer buffs to specific minion types.”
So, this could mean you have to use a deck similar to the Hunter’s Class Challenge in Curse of Naxxramas with Webspinners only or a deck where Murlocs are hideously buffed. This could be very interesting but I hope they don’t run out of ideas too quickly. Week after week of preset decks may (will) become monotonous.
And yes, you can Brawl with your friends! Just like you’ve always wanted to! However, they’ve put up a rule for Brawls; you must have at least one Hero leveled to 20. I don’t mean rank, I mean level, so if you’re new, Tavern Brawls will be unavailable for, you know, maybe a day or so depending on how good and quick you are.
Anyway, that was Tavern Brawl! And here are the brand new Heroes. First that was announced a small while back, Magni Bronzebeard, the new Warrior Hero will be available soon for purchasing (with real money, more on that later). This makes a new Alliance Hero for those who don’t want to play as Horde’s Garrosh Hellscream, AKA, basically Hitler. Blizzard have also given us the silhouettes of a new Hunter Hero (most likely Alleria Windrunner) and Mage Hero (most likely Medivh).
This new patch will also bring the new card backs as well as the ability to designate each deck with their own card backs, for extra spiffiness. Three of the new card backs have been leaked via the Korean Battle.net website which you can see here:
But of course, what comes with the new are people making a fuss. When the new Heroes come out, they aren’t free. Each new Hero will cost $12.99 AUD however they come with:
These Heroes feature animated portraits, a unique animated version of their Hero Power, personalized game board artwork, all new emotes, special match start animations, and a custom-themed card back.
Some people are hating this idea, despite Hearthstone being “play for free, pay if you want” from the beginning. Their main issue being that they’re most likely going to be bringing out brand new Heroes for each class, which will equal $117 AUD (rounding up) if you were to get them all… but you don’t have to and they don’t exactly add anything more than aesthetics. So, if you complain that ‘how dare they‘ and you ‘have to’, then I don’t think these new Heroes are your biggest problem.
I am looking forward to this completely! Are you? Also, nice Rick Roll Blizzard. Got me again. See if you can find it.
