6th-12th June Weekly News Roundup

Friday afternoon is here and so here I am at the keyboard bringing you the news! Ain’t I the greatest? Read on!

In game announcements:

  • On June 10th, it was announced that Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons are coming to Xbox One, Playstation 4 in the next few months and mobile devices including iOS, Android and Windows Phone around the holiday season.

  • Also June 10th, Playstation gave us their first look at Ratchet & Clank from Insomniac Games. They’ll have a playable debut on the E3 show floor next week. Check out the trailer here.

  • Again on June 10th, Blizzard announced that they’re adding a brand new game mode for Hearthstone, named Tavern Brawl, coming mid June! They’ve also shown off new heroes that are yet to be announced and there was a leak of new card backs that come with them. Read about it all here

  • On June 11th, 343 has promised 15 new and free(!) DLC maps added to Halo 5 by this time next year, in addition to the 20 that will already be in the game at launch. These maps can also be played online, in co-op without the need for an Xbox Live Gold subscriptions. Thanks 343!

In industry announcements:

  • On June 9th, Playstation and Konami announced that they were bringing out a limited edition Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Playstation 4, but it’s only available through Europe, Australia and New Zealand (which is fine for us but sorry US). It will be available from September 1st and you can have a look at it here.

  • Also June 9th, Xbox unveiled their new Xbox One 1TB console and they’ve reduced their 500GB console to $349 USD (Approx. $450 AUD). They’ve also announced that new Xbox One controllers will come with a 3.5mm headphone jack and that there is a new Xbox One Special Edition Covert Forces Wireless Controller available for purchasing.   • On June 11th, it was announced that Oculus and Microsoft are partnering together in the virtual reality front. They also announced that a wireless Xbox One controller will come with every Oculus Rift, as well as being able to play Xbox One games with the Oculus Rift system on Windows 10.
