PlayStation Press Conference Recap E3 2018

Wow, did PlayStation cater this conference specifically to me?

It may not have been a perfect press conference, but I honestly couldn’t ask for a better showing from Sony this year. Even with a lack of release dates almost everything shown was right up my alley, and I enjoyed getting a deep dive on many titles previously shrouded in mystery.

The Last of Us Part II

Sony came out of the gate running with a gameplay trailer for The Last of Us Part II. It looks fantastic, but perhaps a little too good to be true.

Ghost of Tsushima

I’m a huge fan of the Sly Cooper and inFamous franchises from SuckerPunch, but something about Ghost of Tsushima just didn’t click with me at the initial PSX reveal. After seeing the gameplay reveal however, I’ve completely turned around on the game.

Control

A new third-person shooter was announced from the creators of Max PayneAlan Wake, and Quantum Break. Control is slated for release sometime in 2019.

Resident Evil 2

Wow, what a relief it is to finally see this game after almost 3 years radio silence from Capcom. Probably my highlight of the conference. Resident Evil 2 releases January 25th 2019.

Trover Saves the Universe

I was pretty surprised to see this show up at Sony’s conference. A 3D platformer from the creators of Rick and Morty? I’m in.

Kingdom Hearts III

Hoo boy! I wasn’t expecting to ever see Pirates of the Caribbean show up in another Kingdom Hearts game, in fact I’m not even sure I wanted it to happen. After watching this trailer however, I can’t believe how stunning it looks. Captain Jack in particular looks absolutely fantastic in the Kingdom Hearts III engine.

Death Stranding

After 3 cinematic trailers, Kojima has finally graced us with gameplay for the highly anticipated Death Stranding.

Nioh 2

After being stuck in development hell for around a decade, the original Nioh defied expectations and launched to critical praise. A little over 1 year later we’ve gotten confirmation of a sequel to Team Ninja’s attempt at the souls-like genre.

Spider-Man

There’s not a whole lot of gameplay floating around the internet for Insomniac’s Spider-Man, but this new trailer showed off a really awesome story mission in which Spidey and Yuri interact with the Sinister Six at the Raft.

While admittedly a bit of a PlayStation fanboy, he endeavours to bring an enthusiastic take to the medium he's so passionate about. Unfortunately, no one calls him by his real name because we already have one of those.
